I am a Part 2 student, currently finishing my MArch course at Loughborough University. I am passionate about designing for happiness and wellbeing, and aim to foster positivity through both my personal and professional development.
Our second year design works have been focused on a site in Bucharest, Romania. Although the English translation of Bucharest is ‘The City of Joy’, much of the happiness that once permeated the city was lost during two World Wars and the subsequent communist regime. The city today faces numerous sources of cultural and economic stress, inhibiting its ability to reclaim its joyful heritage. However, by incorporating negative situations into conditions that are conducive to personal growth, a powerful sense of joy and wellbeing can be achieved. This concept is called ‘The Life Story’, and is the armature which has driven my studio work throughout the year.
Programme development, showing how relevant features of the wider masterplan benefit the armature.
Inner rings of the programme, illustrating the relationships between human and material flows across the production district, as well as through my building.
A design toolkit was developed from my site strategy, stakeholder evaluations, programme design, and precedent studies.
This work is currently in development, but the full architectural output will be displayed during the LU ARC End of Year Show. For more information regarding any of the work or the status of the project, please contact me using the information above. Thank you 🙂
