I approach my work with a focus on architectural illustration, aiming to express and represent key atmospheres whilst bringing about liveliness and character to the schemes.
Final Project
Marian Place Discovery Park blends the methods of the arts with science, forming a typology which allows for these disciplines to work together and influence one another. The main building is split between research into primary progressive aphasia, a type of frontotemporal dementia, and an exhibition visitor centre that is open for the public to discover. Visitors are encouraged to discover the scheme at their own pace, stumbling across art classes, therapeutic counselling spaces and many exhibitions showcasing the latest findings in research. The frame of the gasholder sits quietly in amongst the trees and buildings, allowing for unexpected encounters and as a metaphor for nostalgia and memory.
Design Interventions
‘A Journey of Discovery’ is a graphic novel approach to understanding the design interventions used by architects. The benefit is to appreciate and acknowledge the journey from start to finish, whilst unveiling the unknown, architectural artefacts and clues along the way.
Preliminary Final Year Project
Magnolia House provides a safe care space which, through calm, encouraging spaces allows for individuals with dementia to feel like they are at home. A series of courtyards and engaging spaces are nestled in amongst gardens which bloom with life, supporting visitors to wander paths which are full of vibrant flowers and expanses of greenery. Accompanied by the chirping of birds and the flutter of butterflies, the day-visitors are encouraged to craft their own experience with the aid of experienced and nurturing carers.
