I approach my projects with a focus on water, light and time to create unique atmospheric conditions. I explore these architectural tools through expressive shading studies and 'section journeys' to capture the heightened moments of drama inside a space.
Continuum is a journey through water, light and time. It strikes the balance between intuition and rationality by creating a situation in which the measurable effect of river level generates an immediate affect of a unique atmospheric internal condition.
However, this structure does not aim to balance.
Continuum does not oppose the water, rather it succumbs to the forces of nature and allows this to shape the journey and experience of the viewer.
The building and the Thames act as one, this wholeness runs through the heart of the project. Rather than create a blank gallery to emphasise the art, or a clear path to get from one destination to another: art, route, structure, level, change, experience, and context are combined in unity.
